BEACHES AND CLIFFS

We are in an area where “the sea” is present in daily life. Although nowadays we contemplate it because its state exposes the time that we are going to have, still are many families who dedicate themselves to the fishing as a way of living. It does not have to be strange to anybody, we live in a council that almost agglutinates some thirty coves, beaches and small stony beaches. One of the most beautiful beaches and with better accesses is San Pedro, 2 km. from our hotel.

San Pedro has about 300 m. of fine sand of clear ocher color. The river Esqueiro ends at its right margin, forming a perfect backwater for the youngest. During the summer Red Cross lifeguard service is available. Another the most beautiful beaches than we can visit is the Gavieiro or Silencio: a great natural whim in an incomparable frame.

Many more beaches exist, but among all of them we emphasized Oleiros (a shell of 700 m. of length located under a steep plenty of pines), the Concha de Artedo (of 680 m. of length, with great boulders and much depth), the small stony beaches that surround to the Vidio lighthouse where abound the "cetáreas" (the natural shellfishpond) : Purtiella, Portochico and Castrillón, and Aguilar (great sand beach which mostly belongs to the neighboring council of Muros de Nalón).
